Artificial Intelligence Policy

1.Purpose

This policy outlines the ethical, professional and operational framework for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools at AnchorPoint Legal Partners PLLC (AnchorPoint). It is intended to support compliance with professional standards, safeguard client confidentiality and promote the responsible and effective use of AI technologies.

2.Scope

This policy applies to all attorneys, staff and contractors working with AnchorPoint who use AI tools in any capacity related to AnchorPoint's operations.

3.Principles for AI Use

3.1 Ethical Standards

  • Human Oversight: Legal work product that includes outputs from AI tools is reviewed by qualified legal professionals to confirm accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Transparency: AnchorPoint will disclose to clients when AI tools are used, in any material way, in delivering legal services.
  • Avoiding Bias: AnchorPoint will assess and monitor AI tools to reduce the risk of biased or discriminatory outcomes.

3.2 Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • Client Data Security: AI tools used by AnchorPoint are expected to comply with industry standards for data security and encryption.
  • Privacy Compliance: AI tools must adhere to applicable data privacy regulations.
  • Prohibited Actions: AnchorPoint will not use AI tools that share or sell client data without explicit consent.

3.3 Professional Responsibility

  • No Replacement of Legal Judgment: AI tools are intended to assist, not replace, professional legal judgment. Lawyers remain accountable for all legal work product.
  • Limitations Acknowledgment: AI outputs may have limitations and should not be relied upon as definitive without further analysis.

4.Approved AI Tools

AnchorPoint maintains a list of pre-approved AI tools for use. These tools are vetted for:

  • Security and compliance standards.
  • Functionality and relevance to legal tasks.
  • Vendor agreements addressing data ownership and usage restrictions.

5.Implementation and Training

  • Training: Staff receive training on the ethical and effective use of AI tools, including their capabilities and limitations.
  • Pilot Programs: New AI tools undergo a trial period in limited practice areas before full adoption.

6.Risk Management

  • Monitoring: AI tools are reviewed periodically for compliance, security and performance.
  • Incident Response: Any breaches or failures related to AI use must be reported promptly to the Managing Member.

7.Client Communication

  • AnchorPoint will inform clients when AI tools are used in a way that directly affects their matters.
  • AnchorPoint will explain the benefits and limitations of AI use upon client request.

8.Software Offered Through Our Affiliate

Certain software is developed, owned and operated by AnchorPoint Labs LLC, an affiliate of AnchorPoint, and is made available as a product of that affiliate rather than as a legal service of the firm. Using this software does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Outputs from this software are generated automatically and are not reviewed by AnchorPoint attorneys unless you have separately engaged the firm to do so. 9.Review and Updates

This policy is reviewed annually, or as needed, to reflect changes in technology, operations, regulations or AnchorPoint's practices.

10.Governance

The Managing Member is responsible for overseeing the implementation and enforcement of this policy. Questions or concerns regarding this policy should be directed to the Managing Member.
